Whatever color our skin may be, we always want it to be healthy, smooth, and beautiful. Because of this dry skin is a no-no; that’s why we’re constantly looking for the best thing to feed our skin. If you have been trying out various lotions or creams, you might want to check out this healthier and sensational alternative for that dry skin. It’s none other than coconut oil.

Coconut (halved)

Recently, coconut oil has been making waves all over the world as the wonder oil that does marvels for the hair, skin, and more. The internet is all abuzz with what it can do for the body and even for cooking. However, we want to focus on that dry skin problem so you can have that beautiful skin all year round.

Here are some great uses of coconut oil to address that dry skin problem.

Pure or virgin coconut oil is an all-natural moisturizer.

Pure or virgin coconut oil has fatty acids that help strengthen your skin underlying tissues and help remove excessive dead cells on the surface of your skin. Unlike commercial moisturizers that contain loads of water and petroleum-based ingredients, coconut oil doesn’t suffocate the skin and provides longer-lasting and deep moisturization. Moreover, it’s also a natural antibacterial and antifungal making it even more useful.

Use it as a facial moisturizer.

Coconut oil nourishes your skin without the heavy feeling that commercial moisturizers usually leave. A small dab can already serve as your facial moisturizer. Apply it like you normally would do. It may be a bit greasier at first but you’d find that your skin will quickly absorb it. It will help you get rid of that dry facial skin or flaky forehead. You can also use a coconut-oil-based facial moisturizer if you find the oil itself too greasy.

Let it soothe your hands and feet.

Use coconut oil at home to soothe your dry hands and feet. It helps keeping them soft and moist, especially after washing the dishes or doing the laundry which quickly dries the skin.

Rub it all over your body.

Aside from moisturizing your skin, coconut oil also helps it work better. Because of its fatty acids, it helps strengthen your skin’s natural lipid barrier. Thus locking in moisture in your skin and hydrating it. With just a spoonful slathered all over your body, your skin is more moisturized, hydrated, and healthy-looking.

Get naturally moisturized

With its natural and healthy benefits for your skin, coconut oil may be the best solution for your dry skin. It doesn’t only moisturize and hydrate it but also make it work even better. It may be a bit greasy but its delicious smell makes up for an even better moisturizing experience. So, go on and try it for yourself.
